I’ve been watching a lot of acapella groups on YouTube lately. I’ve always loved these kinds of performances, with nothing but bare voices and no back up. Happily, in my virtual travels, I’ve come across a few fantastic acapella versions of some classic 80s songs – and I’m sharing two of those with you today!
The first is one of the best acapella performances I think I’ve ever seen, Perpetuum Jazzile doing Africa by Toto. At the start they use their hands and feet to simulate rain and thunder – really amazing.
A couple of weeks ago my DPW consisted of two Aerosmith videos - one being Janie’s Got a Gun. NYC group N’Harmonics have done an exceptional cover of it (keep listening until the chorus, which is when it gets really good!):
