To finish the week, this post by Kate of All Fancy Dress will help you come up with a rad costume to look like an 80s pop icon!
Are you taking it back to the 80s for a special night on the tiles? The 80s was an iconic decade which gave birth to a new breed of pop stars and film stars that influenced the way we dress day and night. Whether you woke up to “Manic Mondays” at the start of the week or Kylie had you doing the “Locomotion” you will have enjoyed the fashions and the dance moves.
If you have been invited to a 1980s themed party and you want to steal centre stage with your outfit then here are a few pointers as to how you can perfect your look as one of the leading lights of the 80s music industry.
Madonna

The biggest female pop star to come out of the 1980s, Madonna took the world by storm with her album and single ‘Like a Virgin’. Get the Madonna look with an angelic white corset and tutu skirt and netted gloves and headband. It is one of Madonna’s most iconic outfits and is sure to get you recognised on the dance floor while you “get into the groove”!
Or if you prefer to live in a “material world” then a stylish 80s Madonna themed costume will guarantee you feel sexy with stunning gold top and black skirt.
Blondie

The 80s was also home to a great number of rock chicks. The likes of Blondie, Suzi Quattro and Annie Lennox were very influential divas in their time so why not celebrate their lasting legacy with an 80s rock chick outfit – complete with leggings, skirt and top – that could also be accompanied with a rock diva wig to turn even more heads!
Freddie Mercury

One of the greatest front men of all time, Freddie Mercury was a fantastic showman from the 1980s and had fantastic stage presence whether he was in front of tens or thousands of adoring fans. Pay tribute to the late Queen singer with an outfit dedicated to the one he wore during Queen’s world famous 1986 tour. Pair his unmistakable yellow jacket and white trousers with a novelty moustache and you will be all set to rock Wembley Stadium!
Jon Bon Jovi

Imitate the outrageous rocker Jon Bon Jovi himself with an authentic skin-tight rocker costume. Leopard print trousers were certainly the fashion in the 80s and so were mullets – get yourself an 80s mullet wig that is an excellent throwback to those heady head-banging days.
