B-B-B-B-Beastie Boysssss!!
The Beastie Boys are funky as heck. Normally I’m more rock than hip-hop but man, their music is killer! I’ve loved them since I was a teenager and their music holds up just as well now as it did then.
What you need to know about the Beastie Boys:
- The Beastie Boys were formed in New York City in 1979 and, like Wall of Voodoo, were products of the late-70s punk scene.
- They released their debut EP in 1982
- In 1984 they switched genres to hip hop and released Licensed to Ill in 1986
- The group is well-known for its eclecticism, jocular and flippant attitude toward interviews and interviewers, obscure cultural references and kitschy lyrics, and for performing in outlandish matching suits. (wikipedia)
- They continue to perform to this day
