Yes, it’s 80s Movie Month, and I guarantee it’s going to be a lot of fun! It’s going to be 5 (that’s right, 5!) weeks full of the best and worst the 80s had to offer in film. The decade sure gave us a lot of very forgettable movies, but it also gave us some of the best of all time, and some of the technological and creative advancement that had made modern film so amazing.
To start the month off, I’m going to get personal and let you know some of my absolute favorite 80s movies.
This Is Spinal Tap
This has to be one of the funniest, most clever films of all time. The film is a mockumentary, about fictional heavy metal band, Spinal Tap. It is hilarious in its spot-on satire of the pretensions of musicians, especially during the 70s ad 80s. The “Stonehenge” scene never fails to make me laugh!

Raiders of Lost Ark
I’m sure I’ve spoken about my love of Indiana Jones many times before, but here it is again: the Indiana Jones movies are THE best action-adventure movies ever made, bar none!
Field of Dreams
Ahh, Kevin Costner! What a dreamboat! Add that to the baseball theme, the kind of out-there plot, and the catchy catch phrase (if you build it, they will come), and you’ve got a recipe for a classic movie.

She’s Out of Control
I’ve listed all of my fave 80s makeover movies in the movie section of the site, and this one is the clear winner in my book. It taps into what so many of us girls wanted in the 80s, that desire for the coolness and popularity that could only come with bubble skirts and gravity-defying hair.
