Today’s dance movies seem to pale in comparison to those of the 80s. Flashdance is a classic example of the very best dance movies the decade had to offer.
Alex is a young, gorgeous dancer who works in a steel mill by day and a fairly sleazy tavern by night. Her dream is to be accepted into the obligatory snooty dance school – and though she is an amazing dancer, her style doesn’t seem to fit with the school. This is quite a gritty movie in comparison to something like Footloose – there are strip clubs, death… and a good amount of welding.
The dance sequences are iconic and it is a fantastic story – it may even turn you into a Maniac on the Floor…
Watch Out For:

The dance scene with the water. Holy cow!
