Kevin Bacon. 80s dance moves. I almost don’t need to fill in the rest of this write-up!

This is possibly the best dance movie of all time. Ren is a city boy who gets moved to a small country town, where music and dancing have been banned. It’s hard to believe this could happen – but the movie is actually based on a real town in Oklahoma where dancing was banned for 100 years.

Ren is a killer dancer – pure 80s awesomeness abounds when he boogies. He falls for the wild girl in school – the preacher’s daughter, played by an unbelievably skinny Lori Singer. The preacher is the one responsible for the lack of music and dance, and Ren must pull out all the stops to change his mind and, at the same time, bring their family back together.

It’s hard for me to describe my love for this movie. Instead, you should put on the DVD, put the volume up as high as it will go, and prepare to be dazzled!
