More than just about any other movie, I think this one captures the weirdly fanciful feel of the 80s. And, it stars David Bowie. David Bowie. David Bowie. David Bowie. OMG.
So here’s the general gist: Sarah is sick of her little brother, so she makes a wish that he will be stolen away by the Goblin King. And, hey presto! The Goblin King complies. So Sarah must visit the King’s otherworldly labyrinth to try to find her brother and bring him home.
That’s about all I can describe of the plot in words – you really have to see this one for yourself. It utilises effects and amazing puppets, along with dreamy musical numbers, to create a twisted fairytale feel. Everything about this movie is wonderful and everything works. I’m going to gather you’ve all seen this one already – if you haven’t, get yourself to a video store, stat!

Watch out for:
What else can you watch out for except David Bowie???
